What's to see for J. Crew Spring 2013

Last week, to my disappointment, I missed the Fall 2013 J. Crew fashion show.  Other responsibilities came up so instead we're going to talk this season.  These are photos taken last September at the Fashion Show at Lincoln Center for  Spring 2013....  We're starting to see the beautiful designs in-store now, so check out what you have to look forward to!!

I had to have this J. Crew Liberty print shirt... J. Crew did the coolest thing.   I received a card in the mail offering this shirt as a pre-order...  The link above will get you to Liberty shirts but this particular shirt is not out in stores yet...

Here are more of the looks. I love the mix of oversize and small florals.

These trousers were my favorite but not so sure they'd work on my short self....

A line up of the 007 ( i mean, Jenna ) Girls!!!  Navy and white mixed in with all the beautiful saturated colors...

This dress is gorgeous...

Jenna in a pair of these oversize floral print trousers, not for moi but love them on the tall girls...

Saw these shoes yesterday in the store on Fifth Ave.

This is a  blurry pic but couldn't  resist showing the color combination of camel with pinks, oranges and orange-y red... punctuated by the white shirt. (buttoned at the neck of course!!)

Stop the madness!  I love this skirt with the raffia (?) trim.

On the way out a couple of the kooky people I saw.  Wish I'd taken more photos of them!! The people watching on the way out is as good as the fashion shows.

Love how this dude is working the suede fringe boots, very furry vest and hat ...  and are those raccoon tails or some such thing with turquoise?

And yes- a photo of my J. Crew wedge heels and striped little dress I had handy!!

A Detacher Fall 2013 - Fashion Week

Friday was a snowy and blustery night and totally worth trudging through the snow to see the  Fashion show for A Detacher, a beautiful line of clothing designed by Mona Kowalska in New York City.
It was a beautiful show and because there are tons of professional photographers there you should go to this link and see the line in its entirety.

I took a few of my own pics too.
gorgeous sweaters and dickey bibs too

oversize paper-bag waist  trousers with striped cardigan

a bit of the audience

the mullet was everywhere
The models all had versions of mussed mullet cuts and bangs cropped high on the forehead. There were some beautiful pieces.  Loved the black striped poncho top, map prints and denim pieces!  As usual, Mona's beautiful sweaters and dresses were my favorites.

And on the way out some cool audience members...

I love a snow storm and glad that the show went on!!!

J. Crew People Gazing

Ok I'm milking this for all it's worth.  Just had to write one more post about J. Crew.  It was lots of great people-watching!!! So see for yourself:   (And scroll down, I saved the best one for last)

Here is Jenna Lyons, President and Executive Creative Director of J. Crew with Mickey Drexler , chairman and CEO of J. Crew Group and Glenda Bailey editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar.

Jenna Lyons, Glenda Bailey, Mickey Drexler
Joe Zee

Elle's Creative Director and  host, mentor and Svengali of Sundance's All on the Line: Joe Zee.   I had no shame, just flashed one in his face as he was flashing in someone elses.... Hope he didn't mind.

Nina Garcia ( the blurry bit)

And Nina Garcia,  Marie Claire Fashion Director and Project Runway Judge -  Clearly I have to figure out how to work my camera so that I focus on the actual person instead of the Ray- Banned head of hair  in front of me... something about depth of field.....

Not sure who she is but looks so familiar.
Saw these guys snapping pics of the girl with the enormous blossom in her hair...turns out it was Peony Lim, blogger for http://peonylim.blogspot.com/

And drum roll please:  Now J. Crew covers the gamut from Michele Obama to BEYONCE ( I know there's an accent on the last E but beats me how I can get it on there) Apparently her sister Salonge is a big J. Crew fan and wore one of the J. Crew pieces by Prabal Gurung.  Guess Salonge thought it would be fun to bring here sister along.... it was sure fun for all of us snapping away but I'm too short to get a very good pic of Beyonce. This was the best I could get!!

So this ends the J. Crew experience for now. It was lots of fun to see and be there for all the excitement.

J. Crew Shines for Spring 2012 - Part Deux

For those in the Fashion business these posts would be much to late but for the rest of you out there I thought it would be fun to drag this J. Crew thing out and show you some more of the color stories from their show last week during Fashion Week:

I love this color palette:  Navy, mint, yellow and flax/linen.

And some details:

I  have always loved shocking pink.  Especially a hint of it somewhere. This is more than a hint and it looks great with the other bright blues, greens and corals too.

For another color story from J. Crew go to my first post on the show.  Some more fun photos of fun people and ensembles to follow.

[J. Crew under the Tents at Lincoln Center ]

This past Monday was my birthday.  Lots of happy birthdays on facebook (so fun!) phone calls, dinner  and some very imaginative gifts this year.  The most surprising was a car and driver for  3 hours so, instead of schlepping my kids to and fro' after school I was able to pick them up, dash to the library, pediatrician, and pinkberry (have you tried the new salted caramel ? ) and more.

And the icing on the cake was this invite:

It was  Fashion Week in New York   As a former J. Crew merchandiser many moons ago I still have friends there and was able to snag an invite to their first ever presentation during Fashion Week !!!   I am forever a romantic about the  Fashion World and dopey as it may sound I love the excitement  and anticipation of a Fashion Show.

Walking in, the models were on a platform wearing their J. Crew best!   First group was persimmon reds (wink-wink, at least I tried with the naming)/ blues and whites.

As I walked in this is what I saw.
As I walked in this is what I saw. A beautiful combination of fabrics, prints, stripes, and dots (heart -shaped that is) mixed with the J. Crew chinos, denim shirts and other icon pieces from the brand. Each model wore their clothes with the Crew attitude and as always the styling was aspirational, inspirational and quirky!! I love that they put leopard with this  Crew-ified classic color palette.

Indian Block Prints with
Stripes and Denim

I want both ensembles....
Since there was no runway it was great to get close to the clothes and see the details, texture and colors that separate J. Crew from the rest.

What I love is that you don't have to buy every piece to get the look. The styling is inspiration enough to buy the really special pieces that can be mixed in with your own basics at home. And throw in a bit of leopard to throw people off!!!

Next week- more color stories, details and people watching from the J. Crew Spring 2012 Presentation.

Love, love , loved it!!!
