This has nothing to do with crochet or knitting. I just think it's a beautiful photograph of my granny (yes there's that granny thing again. I can't help it. I even called her granny!) I think that's a Vionnet dress/top and she is wearing the "cocktail ring" that Jackie (my mom) wore and was given to me for my 40th birthday. I love the way she is holding her hands. When I look at other photos from the same period all the ladies were doing this.
Anyway I am going to have this retouched and recolored by a professional so all of us kids have a copy....

some of the 42 granny squares i've finished
This is a test... Just checking to see how this works when I send it over from flickr. For some reason half is cut off on the first posting of it... And I can't make it bigger. I think the color is a little better though...
How many granny squares you ask...
So far I have completed 45 squares.... If I make a qn size cover it would require 900 squares!!! no way! so I think I'll make a throw size. I'm afraid to make that calculation so will wait on that. I've used Klimt's work as inspiration for color and bits of gold in the patterns. The funny thing is I didn't take a pic of one of Klimt's work with all the gold...which has been fun to add to my squares.

The color should be better- esp the photo of the grannies... not loving my new point and shoot that I got as consolation to no DSLR. I should like it . all the reviews said so!! Its the Lumix LX-3
I' m always havinig to fiddle with it. When its on automatic the pics never look good....It takes fisheye pictures which was never mentioned but I've seen on blogs that people have been disappointed with that aspect. I just want one of those point and shoots that magically makes everything look beautiful... maybe I shouldn't do research at all and just get a cheaper camera at at J and R that can take a no fail good pic..... another project I guess.

My first real entry
I've been wanting to get back on and show what I'm working on at the moment. I've been working on these little granny squares (there must be a less fogey description. Any ideas?) Anyway, I'm working with Koigu yarn, some fluffy kidsilk haze by rowan and some metallic yarns.
For more you can go to my flicker account.
I've included some close-ups. I love the way Koigu yarns knit up! I have lots of other projects I've worked on and plan to work on. More later!! Hopefully I'll get a hang of the uploading of photos. it is soooooo slow
